Slash the funding request to fight it by 50%. House Republicans indicated Tuesday that they will provide less than half of the White Houses funding request to fight Ebola in the next government spending bill. According to a source familiar with the negotiations, House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers (R-Ky.) agreed as of Tuesday morning to spend a total of $40 million to fight the epidemic in the 2015 spending bill. (The Hill) The money requested was $88 million, less than 1 one-hundredth of one percent of the budget, and this is what Republicans choose to cut? Did we mention were in the midst of the worst Ebola oubreak ever? With cases now reported here in the US, the need to fully fund the fight is even more urgent.
