Ten years ago yesterday, the Lord lavished my family with grace, allowing Josh, then five-years-old, to survive brain surgery. He turned what doctors thought was a malignant brain tumor into a mere blood vessel. Despite doctors predictions of possible right-sided paralysis or at least right-sided weakness, He gave him perfect health with no residual effects. Today, as we celebrate Joshs rite of passage, getting his learners permit, I cannot do so without tearing up, knowing that these 10 years have been a gift. Although all of our days are gifts from the Father, I seem to be able to appreciate this day of Joshs a bit more, remembering the difficult day I faced watching a surgeon wheel my son into an operating room, having cautioned me that he may not survive. Praise be to God for His unfailing love! I say a special prayer today, too, for Jacob Sprinkle and his family. Joshs story does not compare to his, yet knowing the power of prayer, I pray peace and healing for this young man!
