Thane: Awareness on malaria takes centrestage. THANE: The state health department has decided to stress on malaria control this time. Small bite-big threat has been chosen as the popular slogan for this years World Health Day, which falls on April 7. This theme indicates the severe impact of mosquito bite, which can cause several dreaded diseases. Its said that with just one mosquito bite can transmit a number of ailments like malaria, dengue, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis, lyme disease and leishamaniasis. The health department of state government has planned a slew of awareness programmes on the occasion to mark the day according to the directives of World Health Organisation. Thane district civil hospital and the office of deputy director of health, Thane, have a string of awareness programme. District health office has arranged a lecture at 12pm at Zilla Parishad Sabhagriha on malaria.
