Thank you for accepting me to the group. I could really do with some advice or just some people to talk to who have experienced this problem. My lovely boy Chester was taken to the vets on Friday with this horrible disease. His red blood cell count was just 9. He was given a transfusion which brought it up to 16, it dropped the following day to 14 then again to 13 and half. The vet said that if it continued to go down it was a very bad sign. Then yesterday morning his blood count went up to 15 by itself, a small improvement but improvement none the less. He is on medication to suppress his immune system and blood thinners - I do not know the full details. His blood count remained stable at 15 yesterday and things were looking more positive, we were told he may even have been able to come home today. However, following a blood count a few hours back, his blood level has dropped to 11 again and his gums have started going a little yellow. I just had a phone call from my parents who are at the vets with him now, apparently he perked up a lot when he saw them and ate well with them but is very weak. I am very distraught and any advise would be appreciated so much.
