Thank you for the support. Eco Bee Box now has a Mini Hive in almost every US State (North & South Dakota and Hawaii are still holding out). Box kits are being sent to several provinces in Canada. Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa will also have mini hives. Distributorships in Australia, Europe and Canada are being considered and worked on. Stores across the US will begin carrying these Mini Hives to the extent we can provide them fast enough. Every apiary should have some kind of swarm control to prevent colonies from being completely lost, these mini hives provide that protection. Each beekeeper that has experienced a lost of a queen to various reasons could have had a queen generated from this mini, and the mini will replace the queen with the eggs she left. Those areas with AHB can store queens in these mini hives until needed, allowing them to lay until needed. Creating splits is simple with a mini hive as long as fertilized eggs were left. Walk away splits are allowing the bees to control what is made a queen and the number needed. If many are many, the final queen will be the result of combat and quite hardy. Allowing a queen to mate with local drones supports local bee stock. Mini hives spend most of their resources building and maintaining the hive and are usually a docile bee that can be touched, and loved more than most other colonies. Mini hives will produce comb honey and when crushed and strained with the help of a baggy, about 3 - 6 pints a year. In Utah one hive produced 4 pints and still had three boxes left for them. Can be used to pollenate gardens without much care. Child friendly. Mini hives can be suspended from a tree and boxes can be added to the bottom. One colony taken through the winter last year filled 4 boxes and then was split into 4 colonies. Those 4 colonies filled 4 boxes and were split into 16 colonies. At that point, new beekeepers were given two frames of brood (eggs, larva and nurse bees) which then created queen cells and grew into a hive of its own. Smallest observation window hive I know. Window is tinted and has insulation value, whereas glass does not. I place a 26 frame comb box in between my bottom supers allowing the queen to lay in the mini frames. When she does I start new little colonies. Completely secured, with locking clips. Wonderful for urban beekeeping. Great way to learn and great way for an advanced beekeeper to raise queens and maintain their apiary. Albert 801-654-9700 ecobeebox
