Thank you to those of you who have already donated toys for the Freeport to Port OConnor Toy Run. However, I am WAY short of my goal. Please let me know if you can donate a toy........ For each of the past 11 years, boaters and fisherman from the Houston-Galveston-Freeport area have sponsored the “TOY RUN”, a grass roots effort to collect and deliver new toys to the Port O’Connor Community Center Fund. This fund is a non-profit organization that supports community programs like Adopt an Angel, Angel Tree, Bluebonnet Youth Ranch, Harbor House, and other similar programs focused on helping orphans, abused and at risk children of military families in 12 counties along the central coast of Texas. Each year, the Toy Run team makes the 72 mile trip from Freeport to Port O’Connor with boats loaded full of toys! Over $150,000 in new toys were delivered last year, thereby allowing other community organizations to focus on providing clothing, shoes and food for the kids. We need toys of all kinds to make Christmas a special time for these children who otherwise would not have any gifts to unwrap. Any and all donated toys will be greatly appreciated! We can accept cash donations, Visa gift cards or unwrapped toys in their original packaging (for girls or boys ages 2-16). Toys can be dropped off at my desk or I can come pick them up from yours. Donation deadline is December 3rd. All donations are tax deductible. Donor contribution forms are available from me upon request.
