Thanks to all who made it to Franks Fabulous Brains, Brawn, Beauty - TopicsExpress

Thanks to all who made it to Franks Fabulous Brains, Brawn, Beauty and beer event yesterday. We had 3 teams of intrepid, sleek, super-fit runners taking on the long course - Team Doug, Team Des (Silent but Desley) and Team Tie-Dye Canada (Jim in a tie-dye shirt and outrageously short Canada shorts). We had 4 dressed to Thrill teams for the short course - Victorious (Sibylle and John), The Lovely Ladies (Katy and Doris), Irish Mudders (Jane and Paula) and Wiping Up the Rear (Avery and Jackson). This is on the rather sage advice of the organiser trying to avoid doing the event with your spouse!! Race report as follows: Long course runners set off at 3 minutes intervals, with the Short course teams then going at 5 minute intervals. There were some early hiccups - the Lovely Ladies got the Long course clues for the short course, and clue 2 was missing!! - all expertly handled by the Pink Peril team (Frank & Wendy on the Pink Vespa). Team Tie Dye Canada managed the full Long course and got an impressive 35 out of 40 for clues correct. Unfortunately, he also completely underestimated the rigours of the course and only got 20 out of 40 for Run Offset. Des Doug and Team Silent but Desley got extra points for innovative thinking on the course - they stopped for a beer at Dougs house and cycled back to the start - very innovative and courageous. It did mean that they both got -5 points for Conduct on Course. They bdid bring in a garbage bin lid, which got them extra points in the Garbage Collected category. So Team Tie Dye Canada romped home as winner in the Long course with 95 points, with Team Doug and Team Silent but Desley in close 2nd and 3rd with 65 and 60 points. Im sure there are many protests and calls for audits of the results coming from this group!! On the Short course, the Lovely Ladies were able to amble sedately home after good thinking on their predicted time, got a remarkable 40 out of 40 for Clues and were the only team to have a pint in the pub, so got 20 out of 20 for Conduct on course. They did unfortunately misread the small print that it was quality not quantity of garbage collected, and were marked down there. The Irish Mudders scored well on Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Blue for garbage, and Wiping up the Rear had high quality garbage (no more said there!!). They did get marked down on General conduct on course for telling fibs on their fellow runners. Team Victorious scored highly on General Conduct. Results were the Lovely Ladies first, Victorious second, Irish Mudders third and Wiping Up the Rear.....well....as their name suggest! We then all adjourned for delicious pulled pork and Irish Stout. Thanks to Team Wimberley for all the help!!
