The biggest surprise of the year is in the Best Animated Feature Film category where The LEGO Movie, which appeared on 100s of individual critic top ten lists, failed to land a nomination. The biggest surprise nomination, though, is Laura Dern for Wild. Dern failed to get a Golden Globe or SAG Award nomination, but was able to beat out Jessica Chastain in A Most Violent Year in the race for the final Best Supporting Actress nod. The other big snubs: No Foxcatcher or Gone Girl for Best Picture; No Ava DuVernay for Best Director; No Jake Gyllenhaal or David Oyelowo for Best Actor; No Amy Adams or Jennifer Aniston for Best Actress, No Gillian Flynn for Best Adapted Screenplay.
