The 971th three day (Dec 11-13) Urs celebrations of Hazrat Ali Bin Usman Al- Hajveri popularly known as Hazoor Data Ganj Baksh (RH) commenced with great zeal and fervor on Thursday last. Annually, millions of devotees from all across Pakistan and other parts of the world attend the Urs. In Lahore, the pulse of the Ur’s fervor and enthusiasm can well be perceived where many groups of devotees from and outside of the city can be seen flocking to Hazrat Data Ganj Baksh’s mausoleum dancing to the specific beat of drums and distributing sweets among passerbys. Hazoor Hazrat Data Ganj Baksh ( RH) the literal meaning of which ( The Master who bestows treasures) was a Persian Sufi , scholar and a saint of highest order. His mausoleum is the constant source of blessings for all those who pay honours there. His most famous work is Revelation of the Veiled (Kashf Al Mahjub) written in the Persian language. The work, which is one of the earliest and most respected treatises of Sufism.
