The Big Audiogear Fraud. Theres so much debate about audio resolution and bit depth in recording. A friend of mine has a vintage TDM Protools set, and his Protools HD friends ask him how his set can sound so good, and in A/B comparison it actually does. As technical repair guy i found recently that the über audio system called Merging / Pyramixs hardware is a piece of amateuristic engineering crap. They dont build it themselves really, like the OLD Merging stuff that was Swiss-built, built fine and sounded just like anything else above 1000 dollar. The unbelieveable high prices asked for this new stuff are really just for the marketing of the stuff! I could not believe the mistakes and flawfull build quality of these DACs and i certainly do NOT believe the hype about its performance... Really.... a UNSHIELDED SWITCHING powersupply behind the BACKPLANE of the entire unit... Where all digital audio runs.. COME ON, theres oscillations ALL OVER THE PLACE ! And a FAN placed flat to the ADC boards, with dust entering through 30, 3 mm holes, without filter? This thing will suck up hammernails and smack them on the Xylinx IC without any problem.
