The Chimneys of Elimination and the Critical Role of Exercise ELIMINATIVE CHIMNEYS... There are many ways to heat a home just as there are many ways to provide fuel for our bodies. FUEL CREATES WASTE. Homeowners know to periodically clean the chimneys in their homes, to change filters, to listen to devices installed that sound off warnings when things are not working properly. Do we know our bodies as well as we know how to cleanse and care for our homes? Cleaning requires WORK and MOVEMENT. We must learn to do it ourselves, or hire a professional to clean up the mess we made. OAK: Slow Heat – Is More Expensive NEWSPAPER: Quick Heat – Is Less Expensive Both are made from Wood. Smoke is Smoke. Waste is Waste. If the flue (chimney) is blocked, the house becomes damaged. One creates more waste. WATERMELON ANALOGY 1) You eat 1⁄2 a watermelon immediately 2) You leave the other half of the watermelon out in the sun all day 3) It is 80 degrees outside, what happens to the other half? Our Bodies are 98.6 degrees... what happens to our food if it is in our bodies for 24, 48, or 72 hours? Dr. Fuhrman teaches how to “Eat to Live” for sustained weight loss and for reversing serious illnesses. He talks about being a professional athlete at the Olympic level. When compared to the other athletes whose food choices are not the same, Dr. Fuhrman says that there isn’t a difference in athletic abilities, but there is a difference in the amount of sick time individuals have who do not eat like he talks about in his book. The other athlete’s bodies work harder to compete competitively while also working to rid the body of the debris and waste that is a result of poor food choices. Organic Non-GMO Foods VS. Processed Foods: Slow Heat – Is More Expensive, Quick Heat – Is Less Expensive Both are edible. Smoke is Smoke. Waste is Waste. If the flue (chimney) is blocked, the house becomes damaged. What was the difference? 50% of Eliminative Systems require MOVEMENT to work! THE BODY’S ELIMINATIVE CHIMNEYS: Glandular Skin Urinary Intestinal Respiratory Lymph Our Glands, Digestive System and LYMPH System... 50% of the Eliminative Chimneys require we MOVE in order to function PROPERLY!!! 1) INTESTINAL CHIMNEY “One of the key risk factors for constipation is inactivity.” “Exercise helps constipation by decreasing the time it takes food to move through the large intestine, thus limiting the amount of water absorbed from the stool into the body. Hard, dry stools are harder to pass. In addition, aerobic exercise accelerates your breathing and heart rate. This helps to stimulate the natural contraction of intestinal muscles. Intestinal muscles that contract efficiently help move stools out quickly.” –WebMD 2) URINARY CHIMNEY Kegel exercises tone bladder, tone loose vaginal muscle and help correct urinary continence and prolapsed uterus. 3) GLANDULAR CHIMNEY --> PITUITARY GLAND --> THYROID GLAND When you start exercising, the thyroid gland (located at the base of the neck) sends out hormones that regulate the body’s temperature, heart rate and blood pressure. It also regulates the alertness and focus that are needed to work at a high intensity. --> ADRENAL GLAND Located at the top of the kidneys, the adrenal glands are responsible for the release of cortisol into the bloodstream. Cortisol levels control blood pressure, glucose and acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. The adrenal glands also release aldosterone, a hormone that regulates hydration levels, the speed of the heart and the strength of contractions. It also turns stored carbohydrates into energy. --> PANCREAS Insulin regulates glucose, or blood sugar, bytransporting it to the muscles and tissue that useglucose for energy. Excessive insulin in the blood reduces your sensitivity to insulin and can cause diabetes, which is also linked to overweight and obesity. Exercise improves insulin sensitivity and reduces the reliance on insulin injections. Moreover...The effects of exercise on the endocrine system are also psychological. Exercise-induced testosterone can increase an individual’s libido and confidence...Endorphins can help reduce tension and anxiety and facilitate the proverbial “runner’s high.” Glandular Information acefitness.org/certifiednewsarticle/2227/the-link-between-the- endocrine-system-and-exercise/ 4) SKIN CHIMNEY Exercise encourages sweating so toxins can leave via the skin. Also, when muscles contract during exercise, they put the squeeze on lymph nodes, helping them pump waste out of your system. Result: You look less puffy and polluted. Do you wear clothing that allows your skin to breathe? If you put your hand up against a window does you notice the moisture on the glass coming off of your hand? What does your skin look like under magnification? Coconut oil allows your skin to breathe due to being water soluble. “During exercise, the pituitary gland releases human growth hormone, which tells the body to increase bone, muscle and tissue production. 6) LYMPHATIC CHIMNEY --> RESPIRATORY CHIMNEY If you have a long-term lung condition, the thought of becoming quickly out of breath can be daunting and you may not feel motivated to exercise. It can be tempting to avoid exercise because you think it will make you breathless, but if you do less activity you become less fit and daily activities will become even harder. “The lymphatic system, especially, which drains toxic and noxious substances from the connective tissues of the organs and muscles, depends on the daily movement of all the parts of the body. Unlike the blood, which has a heart to circulate it around thebody, the lymph fluid has no such direct pumping device todo the same. The lymphatic system heavily relies on thebreathing mechanism and how well we use it. When themuscle responsible for the breathing action of the lungs(diaphragm) extends into the abdomen, it exerts greatpressure on the intestinal lymph vessels, thereby squeezingtheir contents. Exercise can greatly improve lymphaticfunctions and thereby prevent a multitude of diseases. Undernormal circumstances, exercising one’s body would not benecessary. Man, like every other animal, was meant to live innature, have plenty of fresh air, and be involved in enoughphysical activity to keep the body fit and vital. Technologicaland economic advancements, however, have led to anincreasingly sedentary lifestyle, which requires physical exercise to keep our bodies healthy and strong.” – Andreas Moritz MOVEMENT REQUIRED FOR 50% OF CHIMNEYS OF ELIMINATION We are much better off taking a daily approach, and being supportive, to the cleansing organs that are designed to detoxify our bodies. Fitness isn’t a 30, 60 or 90 day thing. It needs to be a way of life. We need to stop the weight loss and fitness roller coaster. I tried to stay ahead of my family’s history of slow metabolisms and weight gain by constantly working out or competing in organized sports. Marriage and a family slowed my life down a bit and the weight roller coaster began. My desire to race triathlons and compete was dwindling as I realized I might not be able to lose the 20 to 30 pounds I needed to race competitively. I was starting to believe the “bad genes” and “age” excuses. The picture on the left was me when I worked out for 1-2 hours a day, ran marathons and competed in triathlons. The picture on the right is me after several months of doing HIIT 8-12 minutes a day with an average of 30 min of cardio. Dr. Mok is a triple board certified physician and the owner of one of the busiest medical spas in America. He sees thousands of patients each year who are struggling to lose weight. The number one excuse he hears from his patients about exercise is, “I don’t have time for an hour a day.” To overcome this excuse, he and Spencer developed 20 Second Fitness to be as quick and efficient as possible. At 49, he is one of the fittest doctors in America. It all started with the Japanese Olympic Speed Skating Team. Head Coach Irisawa Koichi created a high- intensity interval-training workout for his skaters that consisted of eight rounds of 20 seconds each of intense work on a cycling ergometer, followed by 10 seconds of rest, for a total of a four-minute workout. Koichi asked one of his training coaches, Izumi Tabata, to analyze the effectiveness of this short but grueling workout. The result is a landmark 1996 study that found, in just six weeks of testing, a 28 percent increase in the subjects’ anaerobic capacity, plus a 14 percent increase in their VO2max. ❖ Overload or fatigue - Results come from INTENSITY not duration ❖ Muscle failure is where strength gains, muscle building and toning come from. ❖ Aerobic failure is how you boost your metabolism ❖ VIDEO: “With HIIT Burn the maximum amount of calories in the shortest period of time.” – Dr. Mok at youtube/watch?v=KnXzrG2EQsM ❖ Press the “exercise” gas pedal down ALL the way. Give every bit of FUEL you have inside for those 4 minutes! ECONOMY CAR VERSUS TOP FUEL DRAGSTER Economy car - Fuel efficient, not a lot of power and ability, not a lot of fun to drive. Can go 100 miles on 3 gallons of gas. Top fuel Dragster - Can burn 5 gallons of fuel in a quarter mile run. Lots of horsepower, fun, exhilarating! The top fuel dragster will burn more fuel in 5 seconds than an economy car will burn in an hour. Now imagine our bodies as cars. Which do you want? Do you want to be the race car? You want your body to burn through lots of calories, have lots of power and energy and be fun and exhilarating. 3 REASONS WHY PEOPLE EXERCISE... 1. To lose weight 2.
