The City of Lethbridge is pleased to announce the water emergency is now over. State of local emergency has been terminated for Lethbridge as of noon Friday, March 14 and the boil water order has been lifted for: City of Lethbridge Lethbridge County Picture Butte Coaldale Coalhurst Thanks to the outstanding efforts from Water Treatment Plant staff and water conservation from all residents and businesses in Lethbridge and the surrounding communities, we are back to normal operations. Water reserves have been mostly restored and we are now able to meet the fire protection needs of all communities. We are currently providing drinkable water to our residents. Water use is no longer restricted but water conservation as a general rule is good for our environment. Conservation efforts throughout this event made a huge difference. We still request that discretionary water use be left for the rest of today. Throughout this emergency, our communities faced an imminent risk of contamination of our water systems. Thanks to the drastically reduced consumption of all residents and businesses, we were able to avert the contamination of our water system. Boil water orders are issued to ensure the safety of our community when harmful bacteria may be present in our drinking water. As continued water monitoring has indicated that we are meeting water quality standards it is appropriate that the order be lifted. You may still notice a different taste or odour in your drinking water, but it is safe. Should you have any health related questions, please call Health Link Alberta toll free at #1-866-408-5465. Thank you for your assistance during this emergency event. The Lethbridge Emergency Operations Centre will be deactivated Friday, March 14 in the afternoon.
