The Court of Owls is the most intense song we as a band have written so far. The song was inspired by multiple altercations I was involved in with people (in broad daylight) who threatened me and my colleagues in public, while everybody watched on and nobody chose to stand up in our defence. When matters got worse, police would tell us there is nothing they could do. The streets are bad and thats just the way it is. It got me to thinking about how corrupt and messed up society is, and when most of my lyrics are about whats wrong with me, I found myself writing a song about what is wrong with society and the world in general for a change. The Court Of Owls is a metaphor (inspired by writer Scott Snyders story Batman: The Court of Owls). The owls have come for you, Theyre breathing down your neck Theyre eating all your children, And living in your nest And when you think youre safe, Theyll drag you down to the darkest corners of this city, Where no one will hear from you again
