The Donegal championship 5k pretty much closes in the road racing scene for 2013 the next challenge in that regard the Stephens Day 5k at Finn Valley 2pm always a great day out and established over 40 years . A clear fixture list will be launched this week by Neil Martin to give absolute clarity for the 2013/14 season . Membership also needs to be dealt with immediately . Todays event once again remembered the late Shane Bonner and once again City Of Derry athlete Conor Bradley won the cup which has been the focus for the event from Convoy in 2012 . Some 300 or close to it turned out in difficult conditions and Valley won the mens ,womens and master women team categories . It was great to see the Bonner family present and running on what is a difficult day for them . No doubt Shane would be proud of Mum Kay now out running these events with a very enthusiastic Convoy running group .Well done indeed to all of them . The younger athletes trained at Drumboe good session Sunday morning but a few obviously remained in their bed which is absolutely useless as move forward . A number of athletes need to decide if they are on board or not as we prepare to battle Donegal ,Ulster and Nationals . That decision needs to be clear this week on board or not training in a committed manner or not .Coaches put the question Tuesday no later . Ahead we look forward to training at Ballyliffin next Sunday transport leaves Valley 10 am .You are reminded to take a lunch ,change of clothes towel etc . Bus 3 euro or if travelling with family be there on Pollan Beach 11.15 .Beyond that its the Invitation Schools cross country at Finn Valley primary schools on Sept 25th secondary schools 26th . There has been a very encouraging response to this annual event once again .Details on finnvalleyac In the States at the Stony Brook Invitational Sarah Collins placed 3rd with her team Providence winning in what is a pre season warm up meet .
