The East Coast Heavy Events Championships Clans on the Coast September 21sth 2013. Supported by TOP Nutrition and Syntechtron. The East Coast Heavy Events Championships Schedule will be. (Each athlete gets three attempts at each throw unless otherwise stated. Times may be altered or adjusted to suit the needs of the event. All Athletes to be at the ground and ready for competition by 8.30am 08: 45am Blessing of the Heavy Events and Athletes by Father Chris Yates (Voluntary) 1. 16lb Caledonian Hammer. 09.00am a 16lb hammer head fixed to a rattan shaft is wound around the body and thrown for greatest distance from behind a trig. The feet do not move in this throw. 2. 56lb Weight throw for Distance. 9.40am. A 56lb or half hundred weight with handle is thrown single handed from behind a trig with an approach for greatest distance. 3. 17lb open stone put. 10.20am. a 17lb teardrop shaped stone to be put from the neck (shot put style) from behind a trig with an approach for greatest distance. 4. 24lb Highland Hammer. 11.00am. same as the Caledonian Hammer just very heavy. 5. Sheaf Toss. 11. 40 Am. A 20lb burlap and straw sack is thrown from a pitch fork for greatest height. Three attempts at each height are given similar to a pole vault event. 6. Caber Toss. 12.30pm. – Games Caber of 18’2” 125lb Caber to be turned end over itself. (judged on a clock face for accuracy 12 O’clock is a perfect turn, this is the scored caber for points for the Championships) All athletes that turn this caber move onto the challenge caber being 18’2” long and 180lb for same rules. ($100 first place must be between 10 and 2 o’clock) 7. 40lb East Coast Stone Put. 1.20Am. A 40lb stone to be put from the neck from behind a trig from the standing position thrown for greatest distance. 8. 28lb weight for distance. 1.50pm. 28lb or ¼ hundred weight with handle is thrown single handed from behind a trig with an approach for greatest distance 9. 56lb Weight for Height. 2.30pm. 56lb or half hundred weight with handle is thrown from a standing position up over a high cross bar for maximum height. 10. Dinnie Stones Walk. 3.10pm. Optional strength event for the East Coast Athletes and open to the public to enter. One stone being 145kg with small D handle the other being 125kg with small ring type handle. Each athlete has 90 seconds to walk the stones as far as possible. The stones must be lifted and walked together; they cannot be walked individually, rolled or dragged. Athletes can pick them up and put them down as many times as they like within the 90 seconds time frame. Record distance is 30.00 metres. (Individual prize money is listed for this event for top 3) Our event must be finished prior to the 4pm massed bands.
