The Federal Government has just given my hometown Nnewi a wonderful gift: The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, today opened a medium prison with modern facilities in Nnewi! President Shehu Shagari initiated this gift in 1982, and President Jonathan completed it and delivered it! Please help me give the FG a round of applause. Now the distance between home and prison is no longer far! Meanwhile the College of Medicine and the Nnamdi Azikiwe UniversityTeaching Hospital, for which we provided our scarce vast expanse of land over 25 years ago, are still at the temporary sites, much of which was built by indigenes of the town and handed over to the University. Not long ago, the CMD of the College of Medicine of Unizik advised indigenes of Nnewi to start constructing the needed buildings at the permanent site to hasten the relocation. That is the kind of dividend of democracy we get. Who knows whether an ultra-modern federal mortuary or cemetery will be the next to be delivered to us?
