The Hawaii Fire Department reports a runaway brush fire in the area of the lava flow front and is moving in a north direction parallel to and on the West or Mauka side of Highway 130 between Pahoa and Ainaloa. Fire Department units and personnel are on scene and working to contain the fire. No homes or property is threatened at this time however smoke conditions may increase downwind or to the north of the fire in the areas of Ainaloa and Hawaiian Paradise Park. No evacuation is needed at this time and area residents are advised to monitor the local radio broadcasts for further updates.
