The Humane Society of Utah is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and successful prosecution of the individual(s) responsible for shooting four horses in Syracuse. The horses were found dead in a pasture in a remote location at the end of a road. The animalsʼ owner was reportedly out of town when they were shot. “This appears to be a deliberate and cruel act,” said Gene Baierschmidt, Executive Director of the Humane Society of Utah upon learning from authorities that the horses were shot in a corral. “This kind of callous crime cannot go unchallenged. The Humane Society and our thousands of members want to see those responsible brought to justice. Itʼs our hope that this reward will generate information leading to an arrest, prosecution and a conviction.” The Humane Society of Utah encourages anyone with information about the shootings to contact the Davis County Sheriffʼs Office at 801-451-4150 or HSU Animal Cruelty Investigator John Fox at 801-261-2919. John Fox may also be reached at 801-506-2408.
