The Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Geelani Friday came down heavily on the Peoples Democratic Party patron Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, accusing him of exploiting sentiments of Kashmiris by projecting himself as close to pro- freedom circles. “Mufti by commitment is a faithful and staunch Indian. He stands exposed for his deceitful politics. Mufti exploited sentiments of people in 2002 and succeeded to make his way to power,” Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said while strongly reacting to Mufti’s statement that resolution of Kashmir issue lies within the ambit of Indian Constitution. The Hurriyat (G) maintained that resolution of Kashmir issue was not possible within Indian Constitution. “For last 65 years people are giving sacrifices to achieve right to self-determination and the struggle will continue till the objective is achieved. In 2002, it was due to the consent of Delhi together with Mufti’s deceptive tactics of exploiting sentiments of innocent people that he succeeded to make way to power,” Akbar said. Elaborating, he said, “Mufti Muhammad Sayeed and his daughter while expressing their sympathies with people, exploited their sentiments and created the impression that PDP favors resolution of J&K as per aspirations of people and also opposes Indian oppression.” “Prior to achieving power, Mehbooba Mufti exploited sentiments, made hue and cry and visited families of martyrs and attended their funerals. Innocent people were deceived. With hidden hands behind PDP, its leadership created a wrong impression that the party is in close association with pro-freedom circles,” he said. “In his maiden speech after assuming power, Mufti Sayeed while addressing Mujahideen had announced that now they need not to live in forests and that he will go ahead with their agenda,” Akbar said. “While pleading resolution of Kashmir issue within Indian Constitution, Mufti Sayeed stands exposed and his statement serves an eye-opener for those justifying support for him. Those who treat PDP a lesser evil as compared to Congress and National Conference are wrong. These people should understand that there is no difference between Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, Omar Abdullah and Saif-ud-din Soz and all of these favour Indian oppression and act as stooges,” the Hurriyat (G) spokesman said. “Had the nation accepted the proposal of Kashmir resolution within Indian Constitution, then what was the need of unprecedented sacrifices offered by the people?” Akbar asked
