The Intruder The night was calm, not even a sound No trees were stirring and no crickets on the ground. I could not sleep but laid in my bed With the covers drawn firmly over my head. Outside it was dark with no moon in sight I could not see the burning outside light. So I woke and stood next to the wall With my hand against it so I would not fall. Trying to get my slippers on I nearly fell over and woke up my son. I walked to the window to try and see Where could all the night creatures be? Suddenly a movement just on the grass Visibility was poor through the frosted glass. Again the movement from my left to my right My heart started pounding and my chest got tight. What could this be, was there someone outside Looking for the perfect place to hide? This was not going to happen to me So a more visible place is where I should be. I stood near the door armed with a bat Ready for any Man, a Dog or even Cat. Faintly I saw something coming my way But firmly on the porch, ready, I would stay. The movement got closer and reached the porch I took a swing with my bat, but unfortunately only knocked over my torch. Then there was nothing, nothing around Not on the porch and not on the ground. I then saw the intruder that invaded the night It was light as a feather as it took flight. Over the wall from where it came My hope was that he would never be seen again. But I then started laughing for what did I see? The intruder was on the wall looking at me. He was stuck on the wall, caught on a wire He could not go down and could not go higher. I have never been so scared in my live But not a word of this will be uttered to my wife. For there he was near the tree so tall. A black plastic bag caught on the wall
