The Irish Design 2015 website has gone live with an open call looking to support anyone who wants to take part in celebrating the year of design 2015 through virtually anything that has to do with design, with particular focuses on talks/workshops, publications/websites, short films, residencies, venues & conferences, and fashion. Some of these events will take place in Ireland, some will bring Irish design abroad. Although this only went live 14 hours ago, the closing date for many of the applications is this Friday. (irishdesign2015.ie/core/calls) Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland, is Patron of Irish Design 2015 and the initiative has been included in the Irish Government’s Action Plan for Jobs. Design disciplines include: Architecture and built environment; contemporary and traditional craft, costume and set design; design engineering; fashion; film, animation and motion design; food design; furniture and lighting design; gaming and ICT design; graphic and communication design; interior and exhibition design; organisational and service design; product and industrial design; textile design; web interface and interaction design.
