The Katy ISD second School Health Advisory Council meeting is coming up on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 5:00 p.m. Please mark your calendars and spread the word for anyone else in our district that could be interested in participating. The KISD SHAC covers these eight aspects: *Nutrition Services; *Health Services; *Healthy and Safe School Environment; *Counseling and Mental Health Services; *Staff Wellness Promotion; *Parent and Community Involvement; *Physical Education; and *Health Education. One of the topics we touched upon in the last meeting was establishing subcommittees for each of the above areas. The subcommittees would meet at a time and frequency agreed upon by its members, then report their findings and make recommendations to SHAC. If there is anything to discuss, it would then happen at the main meetings, and the recommendations would be included in the end of year presentation to our Board of Trustees. This is where the change would happen. The general meetings are not long enough to have many detailed discussions of the situations that affect our district but the subcommittee meetings can be. Please spread the word, ask your friends and neighbors to participate, your childrens teachers, church pastors, and business owners. If you live, work, or have children within the geographical boundaries of our school district, we want you!
