The Lae Police Station is in need of additional resources in order to provide adequate copies of briefs of evidence to the court as photocopies were out of date and no longer functioning. Detective Acting Superintendent Peter Murphy said the PNG-APP officers in Lae who has been contributing to the police station front office, proper procedures for people in custody, vehicle and foot patrols, management of exhibits and the examination of briefs of evidence have seen a huge need for additional resources. Mr Murphy said the PNG-APP had recently presented two Remington photocopies to the Lae Metropolitan Commander Iven Lakatani. Meanwhile, Lakatani added, the photocopies are a practical solution to a resource problem, which was negatively impacting on the reputation of the RPNGC with the courts and the community. The photocopies costed more than K33, 000 will be used in the Prosecutions and Criminal Investigation Division of the Lae Police Station.
