The Life and Times of Juanito Gonzalez A one-man/one-act children’s play by Pedro Garcia (now available for bookings and tours to your space: a youtube short demo is available, see details below) THE LIFE & TIMES OF JUANITO GONZALEZ IS performed exclusively by professional Screen Actor’s Guild member, Pedro Garcia, who is the founder of Teatro Nuestra Cultura based in the Rio Grande Valley. He is currently Artistic Director for the Pharr Community Theatre in Pharr, TX. SYNOPSIS: The Life and Times of Juanito Gonzalez is a very important and entertaining bilingual, family play. Through the life of the main character, Juan Gonzalez, the play explores the importance of education, love and life. The play is geared toward school children with a clear and positive message that says, “…reading and writing and paying attention to your teachers is important.” Meet Juanito Gonzalez, who lived to be 100 years old. On November 2nd, two years after his death, he returns to his campo santo (cemetery) pulling an old sack of books. The sack contains all the books he has ever read in his life. Today his relatives will come to visit his tomb and to adorn it with fresh flowers. They will sing songs as they remember fond memories of him. But before they arrive, he will tell the audience why he lived such a wonderful and beautiful life. Briefly, he explains the true meaning of this special day, Nov 2nd, Día de Los Muertos, (Day of the Dead) a day dedicated to the memory of all the deceased that is celebrated all over Latin America. He’s also an acting teacher and coach for stage and film and an award winning short filmmaker. Most recently he was a cast member of the AMC TV show BREAKING BAD, the ABC TV show MY GENERATION in which he played the recurring role of JAVIER SERRANO and as the Train Conductor in the film, FAST & FURIOUS 5. He portrayed the role of PETEY in the feature film ALL SHE CAN by Amy Wendel. In the film “CLEMENTE” directed by Pablo Veliz, he played ANTONIO. In the film PARTY GIRL he plays a PRIEST. Pedro is also in the development of producing and directing his first major film, LA SOLDADERA. He is currently the artistic director for the Pharr Community Theater in Pharr, TX and is represented, as an actor, by Legacy Talent Agency in Austin, TX and as a Voice Talent by Internetjock.
