The Little Explorers Activity Club - Meeting the Animals Kneeling in front of the piano there is a happy reunion, Iris and Eddie the Gecko. She brings him close to her cheek, then inspects his face with his tiny pink tongue cleaning his nose. The other Little Explorers arrive, everyone is in high spirits, excited at the thought of meeting some more animals. First up is a pair of Tree frogs that turn from brown to green in front of our eyes, there are squeals of surprise as the frog jumps from Georges hands onto his mother and then the same again onto Jack. George is fascinated by snakes, so he is in his element with the next animal to come out of its box, a stripey Milk snake called Bandit who creates a knot like shape through Vanessas fingers. Now the time has come for Aragog the Chilean Rose Tarantula! Feeling relieved that Iris is up high in her fathers arms we all take a look at this magnificent spider, Who would like to have Aragog first? Meeee cries George with his hands shooting to the sky, I cant help but laugh at his eager nature and everlasting enthusiasm about these creatures. After George and Jack have had their turn with Aragog sitting on their lap, Josephs Mum offers to have the spider on her knee. She sings to Joseph the Incy Wincy Spider song and Joseph laughs and giggles, tucking his body close into hers as they both look on at the spider. A Joyful change in Josephs behaviour and a memory I shall cherish. As soon as Iris sees the giant African Snails she is intrigued by their eyes on stalks, that when touched shrink back into their heads, she loves the shells and plays happily with Jack beside her while he sprays them with showers of water. A wonderful end to this animal encounter for our Little Explorers.
