The Lord Is My Strength | Psalm 28:7 Psalm 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. Ever feel like you don’t measure up? Ever feel like life’s assignment is beyond your skill level? Convinced that you don’t have what it takes? Don’t feel alone. The line of inadequacy stretches around the block, but you don’t have to stand stuck in the long line. Move out of the line and find where your issue can be addressed. In today’s passage David readily admits he doesn’t have what it takes. If God didn’t come to his aid, he concluded, “I will be like those who go down to the pit,” (Psalm 28:1). When God heard his “cry for mercy” he broke out in the confession, “The Lord is my strength.” Real adequacy doesn’t come from our winsome personality, framed degrees hanging on our walls, or experience in our field. The long line of inadequacy is stacked with qualified people. The ability to meet each challenge and opportunity of life must come from the Lord. He is our strength and power. He is our shield of protection. He is our source of trust. Help comes from him alone. Get out of the line and acknowledge that your sufficiency is in the Lord. Father, we cannot do what you are calling us to do while stuck in the long line of inadequacy. Give us the strength to move out and find our sufficiency in you alone. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
