The Met Office has sent us the following message. Please cascade to your care workers to ensure that they, as well as the people they care for are safe: Headline: Earlier today a Met Office Heat Health Watch Level 2 – Alert and Readiness – was issued for SW England with a 60% probability of the threshold criteria of 30/15/30 degrees Celsius being recorded between 1200 Friday and 2000 Sunday. Weather: It will remain dry and fine, with a good deal of very warm, locally hot, sunshine, especially inland during the next 5 days – up to and including Monday 15 July – although at times there will be refreshingly cooler sea breezes right on the coasts. The hottest weather is expected during Saturday, Sunday and Monday – with also very warm nights on Saturday and Sunday nights – although highest daytime temperatures are expected to be just under the SW England criteria threshold –the night time temperatures may not fall below 15C in many areas during these 2 nights. The sunshine will continue to give high UV levels – leading to a higher risk of sunburn for certain fair skin types – and along with low humidity – people will feel the need to drink more to keep hydrated. Pollen levels too have been very high recently and will continue to be high or very high during the next 5 days. Temperatures: Today 11 July: Maximum 15 C right on south coasts and up to 23/24C on north coasts and inland Minimum 7 – 14 C Friday 12 July: Maximum 16/17 C right on all coasts and up to 25/26C inland Minimum 9 – 15C Saturday 13 July and Sunday 14 July: Maximum 16/17C right on all coasts and up to 27/28C inland Minimum 12 – 19 C Monday 15 July: Maximum 15C on north coasts and up to 26/28C on south coasts and inland So when visiting our clients please make sure that they have some windows open where possible and then at night make sure the windows are shut unless otherwise prompted. Also make sure you are well hydrated and make sure the clients have plenty to drink also. Thank you.
