A year later the celebratory mood has now turned into despair and frustration for the family as their son has made a total turnaround and is the opposite of what he was when he won the silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics. Fame has blinded him. He does not care about them anymore, except when he buys them some grocery. GuardianSun paid the family a visit and one could feel the sadness and distress that has engulfed the family since Nigel Amos, who now goes by the name DJ Zoro, entered the music industry. Nigel informed her about the recent car accident he had and that he was not driving his own vehicle. Shockingly he has given the owner of the damaged vehicle one of his cars while repairs go on. The 79- year-old is worried that the music career that Nigel has pursued might destroy his athletics career and said that she has requested for a family meeting to address the issue as it bothers her. Francinah Amos-elder sister Francinah is worried about her brother’s recent behaviour. She says Nigel has changed and turned against his own family. “He spends less time with us and can come at 7 in the evening and after 30 minutes tell us that he is leaving for Gaborone, he is just always busy and always in a group of friends,” she cried. She said that since Dj Zoro joined the music industry he has changed a lot and has lots of friends who are not known to the family. “We have tried to talk him out of the music industry and he became angry and aggressive towards us. We told him that people are using his fame to push their own agendas and he refused to heed our advice,” said a worried Francinah. She revealed that Nigel has bought some sound equipment and some artists (names known to this publication) have befriended him in order to use his equipment for free. She said that his young brother has told her that he can still win races without training and that his music career was there to stay. Mampare Pelaelo - uncle The family gathered in his house on August 9, 2012 to watch Nigel as he made history by winning silver at the Olympics. “I would call him during breaks while he was in London and I was the father figure to him and assisted in whatever way during his upbringing,” said Pelaelo. Shaking his head, Pelaelo who was reluctant to speak about his nephew said that Nigel has become hostile to them and does not speak to him anymore. “I don’t want his money but just to greet and acknowledge us as his elders and parents is okay for us. This is not the Nigel we have raised, he is a stranger to us and is pushing us away.” Pelaelo is worried that if Nigel does not make a turnaround he will just become an ordinary guy with nothing to show for his fame. Tiroyamodimo Amos - cousin and estate manager for Nigel Amos A nurse by profession and stationed at Toteng village, Tiroyamodimo Amos is the man who helped his cousin to try and use his money wisely. “I encouraged him to build a house for himself and buy some livestock which he did and I am currently looking after them together with mine,’’ said Tiroyamodimo.
