The Modern Conflict Archaeology Conference have extended their CFP deadline, some of our members may be interested in submitting or attending? MCA Conference Call for Papers 2013: Postgraduate students are invited to submit a proposal for a paper to be presented at the 5th Modern Conflict Archaeology Conference, to be held at the University of Bristol, on Saturday October 19th, 2013. The conference will be a forum for critical discussion and provide postgraduate students with an opportunity to both present research and meet people working in the same or a closely related field. Theme: The theme of the conference is Modern Conflict Archaeology and papers are welcomed to cover any aspect of conflict during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Eligibility: Speakers must be, or plan to be, a postgraduate student of a university or other recognised institution by October 2013. Attendance at the conference is open to anyone with an interest in Modern Conflict Archaeology, however pre-registration will be required. Papers: Proposals should be consistent with the theme, demonstrating a multidisciplinary approach to the study of modern conflict and, where possible, they should be theoretically informed. Abstracts of accepted papers from previous years can be found on the website mcaconf. Proposals for papers should include a title and an abstract (no more than 200 words). They should be submitted by email together with the applicant’s name, contact email address, phone number and details of affiliation to a university or other institution. Proposals for papers must be submitted no later than July 15th 2013. All proposals will be reviewed by the conference organisers. Late submissions will only be considered if programming allows. Successful applicants will be notified by August 15th 2013. Accepted papers should be no longer than 20 minutes and accompanied by a visual presentation (PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.). The abstracts of selected papers will be published on the MCA website, distributed on the conference email list and on other external web pages.
