I plan to visit Ballou High School Monday to talk with Alli Baugher, Spanish teacher at Ballou Senior High, who has enabled numerous Ballou students travel to Costa Rica, Ecuador, Spain,Ghana, Dominican Republic & this year, Zambia. I heard some of students on the radio talking about their trip to Africa... like Richard, she was transformed, too. All the negative racist media images were dispelled leaving her in awe of her ancestral home land. Ive been asked to teach a class on racism at another area high school & Id love for some of Ballous travelers to share their experiences with my students. Plus, I want to meet & thank this wonderful teacher whos helped Black youth from far SE who, all too often, dont travel outside their neighborhoods as far as the National Mall, visit the place that can most enhance their sense of personal value. bit.ly/1vSV9Qt
