The ODM NEC has today constituted a disciplinary committee chaired by Lawyer Fred Athok to look into the events of Thursday 30th October 2014 at Orange House that saw a group of party MCAs from Nairobi County Assembly eject party Executive Director Mr. Magerer Langat from the CORD Parliamentary Group meeting at Orange House. The NEC made the decision after a meeting held at the party headquarters and chaired by Party Leader Mr. Raila Odinga. The team will look into the allegations leveled against Mr. Langat and circumstances that led to his ejection from a meeting that was attended by Mr. Odinga and his co-principal Mr. Kalonzo Musyoka among other leaders. The team also has former Deputy Speaker Mr. Farah Maalim Mohammed, former Senator Mr. Harold Kipchumba, Mombasa County Woman MP Mrs. Mishi Mboko Juma and Miss Halima Daro from Marsabit. The disciplinary committee is expected to investigate the matter and make recommendations to the NEC within the next ten days. A legal committee will be formed to supplement the work of the disciplinary team. The members of the legal team will be announced later. During the meeting, the NEC members listened to four Nairobi County MCAs led by Mr. Otieno, Nairobi Nominated Senator Ms. Elizabeth Ongoro and the partys Director for Membership and Recruitment Ms. Rosemary Kariuki. After long deliberations, the NEC agreed that the MCAs who apologized for their deeds last Thursday pay a collective fine of Ksh. 100,000 for their conduct. The NEC also discussed the issues and stalemate at the Kisumu County Assembly which the members said were derailing development in the County. Therefore, a Task Force of not more than five members to look into how the stalemate can be resolved to get the Assembly back on track. The Task Force will be headed by Mr. Oduor Ongwen. Other members of the Task Force are ODM Women Leader Ms. Beth Syengo, Kisumu based Doctor Dr. Charles Olima and Kericho ODM official Mr. Ronald Ngeny. The NEC resolved that the party National Governing Council (NGC) will meet on Friday November 28 to deliberate on the recommendations that would have been made by the three committees. Ends. P.
