The PAWS Toll Free line is ringing off the hook with residents - TopicsExpress

The PAWS Toll Free line is ringing off the hook with residents needing Free or Low Cost spay/neuter services for their pets. Currently, there is a waiting list of over 400 animals, but were whittling away at it as fast as we can. Please note that while this service could be Free for the recipient (if receiving government assistance), PAWS, Lulus Rescue, and its supporters have to pay the $25 voucher minimum. The actual cost is $100 per animal so we want residents to understand that while the cost to them might be FREE or $25 (if not on assistance), theres still a $75 balance which is paid by our supporter group CPPI in Hendersonville through their fundraisers and grants which takes a lot of time and energy to organize and implement. If youre able to pay $25, you may purchase a voucher from PAWS and get your pet spayed immediately by taking it directly to the Humane Alliance Veterinary Hospital in Asheville. Just comment on this thread if you want to do this, and well get in touch with you. Otherwise, we have to wait on supporters and fundraisers to come through with the money to fund this program. In addition, Humane Alliance services six other counties besides ours, and we can only get so many dates for large volume spay/neuters with Free Transport. Getting angry or complaining about the wait with our phone volunteer(s) is non-productive for everyone. Please be patient with us as well get to you as soon as we can. Remember, you can always pay the low $25 fee and get your pet fixed immediately! In the meantime, the Spay/Neuter Pod will be up and running before Christmas as there have been delays with the county regarding water and sewer hookup issues. Thank you!
