The Parker House (now Omni Parker House) opened on October 5, 1855. It is located on School Street, near Tremont in Boston. The Parker House invented the Massachusetts state dessert (Boston cream pie) and the Parker House rolls. In addition, the restaurant coined the term “scrod.” Some well-known people worked at the Parker House including Ho Chi Minh, who was a baker in the bakeshop from 1911-1913 and Malcolm X who was a busboy in the early 1940s. President John F. Kennedy had several historic events at the Parker House. He announced his candidacy for Congress in the Press Room, proposed to Jackie in the restaurant and attended his bachelor party in a function room. Happy Birthday to our patients!
