The Pollies’ Patch – January 2014 Councillor Jenny - TopicsExpress

The Pollies’ Patch – January 2014 Councillor Jenny McKay Division 5 Sunshine Coast Council New emergency access track In preparation for the 2013/14 wet season council has worked with local landowners to build an emergency access track which runs south from west of the low level crossing to the Beausangs Lane Bridge, Conondale. This is great news for residents living in the northern section of Beausangs Lane as it will be available at any time the Mary River low level crossing is impassable. It is currently constructed on private property with permission from the relevant landholders, so to residents needing to use the track please be mindful to respect the landowner’s property. Work has also been undertaken on the 600m of road north from the Mary River crossing to the culvert and on the culvert itself. This section of road and culvert will now be maintained at an appropriate level by council. Mary Valley Inc (MVI) update Cr Greg Rogerson and I represent the hinterland communities at the monthly Mary Valley Inc meetings, which also has strong representation from Crystal Waters and Conondale residents. And it was great to see Vic Bochow at the recent Imbil meeting representing Conondale. Congratulations to the Mary Valley Country Harvest Cooperative (a sub committee of MVI) for their terrific upcoming ‘Business of Small Area Farming’ workshops this month culminating in a harvest dinner. Visit maryvalleycountryharvest for further details. Three grants funding programs now open Check out the diverse range of funding opportunities currently available from council to assist residents and community groups.
