The Saudis allied with the radical Wahhabi sect in order to rule - TopicsExpress

The Saudis allied with the radical Wahhabi sect in order to rule Arabia. And then to keep the Wahhabi from consuming them, they turned them outwards as missionaries to purify Islam, to make World Islam to be Wahhabist, which would also increase the power of the Saudis and legitimize their rule. The Wahhabi regard other Muslims as heretics, destroy shrines to dead Muslim heroes, tombstones, will not even celebrate the birth of Muhammad. They insist that all Muslmis must pledge allegiance to a single Muslim leader. All who refuse should be killed, and their wives and daughters violated. ISIS is the fruit of this sect. The US allied with the Saudis and the Wahhabi in order to combat communism and unfriendly Arab regimes. Now we are reaping what we have sown over the last century. QUOTE hy should we be surprised -- knowing a little about Wahhabism -- that moderate insurgents in Syria would become rarer than a mythical unicorn? Why should we have imagined that radical Wahhabism would create moderates? Or why could we imagine that a doctrine of One leader, One authority, One mosque: submit to it, or be killed could ever ultimately lead to moderation or tolerance? UNQUOTE
