The Shinseidokan Dojo blog by Michael Clarke Sensei is one of those blogs I like to keep up with because he articulates things karate so well such as the following post for today: shinseidokandojo.blogspot/2015/01/choicehow-much-do-you-really-have.html This entire article just made me think, Social Status. Social status is one of those semi-biological traits of humans that dates back to cave man days where tribal group survival reigned under the hierarchical model that can best be described today as the military hierarchy, i.e., status is designated by such things as rank structure and so on. Sound familiar? Social status is still a big deal for humans even if they dont acknowledge it directly. A lot of times social status urges tend to disguise themselves as other things more observable in modern society and through modern technologies. Associations create and support status through political and human means, i.e., as to the exploitation of our human emotional drives - the monkey brain. Think about this one …..
