The Simple Things in a Flight Flight LH457 vs Delta 0265 On the way to my excursion to Europe we flew via Lufthansa a higher end airline. Dinner was served with real silverware and fancy stuff that really didnt look like food and just a side note our bread was frozen. My colleague placed it on top of his very extremely hot food plate to see if the defrosting would help. It did some what. Yes we had Tiramisu and fancy wine and no one greeted me with a simple smile only the man to my left received the special treatment. The passenger sitting next to me on my left side. It was quite peculiar, before take off her recieved a special greeting from the flight attendant , he was given special attention, extra blankets and pillows, and extra chocolate. Mid way through our flight, I had to ask Can I ask you a question ? his response was sure . Did they sell your seat or mess up on your flight? He chuckled and said no , I am a frequent flyer. I take this route frequently. Ah the light bulb was lit, I understood. I did notice that he did not like the attention, the flight attendants asked many times if he was hungry , if he needed anything. The man just wanted to sleep. Jason a colleague and I would just look at each other every time they would make sure everything was just right for him. Never once did they ask us if we were okay, or offered us extra food or chocolates none the least blankets or anything for that matter. On the way back home, it was chaos again our flight was cancelled and we got rerouted . We had a taxi deliver us to Amsterdam to rebook our flight and were given the option of flying home right away with Delta. My colleagues wanted to stay with Lufthansa but I didnt care I wanted to come home . I flew Delta. I had flown with Delta in prior adventures and had never experienced anything negative. A window seat with no one by my side , extra leg room and special treatment in the coach area. I too was tired and wanted to sleep. I slept but even though I slept when I woke up I had my peanuts and mini pretzels waiting for me. The flight attendants asked if I wanted something to drink, I responded I would wait for dinner. Dinner was fabulous, I had wanted Italian . Italian it was , the tortellinis were nice and warm , the bread was fresh an individually wrapped and NOT frozen. I did not have a fancy dessert but a very good chocolate chip cookie with a smile from my flight attendant. The movie selection was larger, new and old movies . You would think that even though I am Tech Junkie I would be able to figure out my TV and control . Well that wasnt the case. I called my flight attendant over and she sat next to me greeted me with a smile and took care of me. She took the control banged it a bit and made it work. The control was stuck and just need a few bangs AKA TLC...( LOL !!!) It worked. I said thank you and once the control was working I took it from her hands and figured it out. She responded with a huge smile , and said, I can get someone to help you or move your seat to one that works better , but I can get you a diet coke or coke . I do know how to do that ! I took her up on her offer. Fancy Nancy Airlines versus humble simple Airlines. I would fly Delta anytime over Lufthansa. Delta was able to give me better customer service than the other airline. The smiles were free and golden. The food was not frozen and very delicious. But most important the hospitality and the customer service was phenomenal. Delta flight attendants and crew were just what I needed to make my trip to Europe end in a positive note. If I ever make it back to Europe , I will fly Delta. It really comes down to the Golden Rule, Treat others like you would like to be treated, it can be paying it forward or planting good and positive Karma. Money can buy you fancy silverware but I would rather be accompanied on my flight with a group of attendants that truly enjoy their career . You may ask and how can I tell its enjoyed. The positive energy and smiles that I received reflects just that. Thank you Delta and until we fly again. My flight crew were Dan, Laurie,Jean,Tim & Ngha they were fantabulous made my 8.5 hour flight seem rather shorter than longer.
