The Spotlight: Spill Your Coffee? Categories: Carpet Cleaning Tips 2014 Mar 10thTwo to three cups – that’s the normal amount of coffee I drink every day. That’s over 900 cups of coffee in a year, most of which I carry over carpet while I’m feeling very tired. Eventually, I’ll spill one of those cups all over my carpet. While I won’t be happy about it, I won’t worry either. Why? Because I’ve got this great cleaning tip: - Step 1 - Blot up as much of the coffee spill as you can. Work from the outside edge of the spot toward the center so you don’t spread the coffee around. - Step 2 - Mix the following: one tablespoon of a clear dishwashing detergent, a tablespoon of white vinegar and two cups of warm water.* - Step 3 - Wet a towel in the solution and wring it until it’s damp. Blot the spot with this towel, working from the outside edge toward the center. Continue this process, wetting the towel as needed, until the stain is gone. - Step 4 - Spritz the area with water and blot it dry with a clean towel. This last step is important, as it will remove any detergent residue in the carpet. Thanks to Goodhousekeeping for this great cleaning tip – I just hope I don’t have to use it any time soon.
