The Stanley Sutka posting concludes my series of the biographies of the men honored on the Veterans Memorial at Mann Park. I appreciate the assistance I received from Facebook members to help fill in gaps where I was lacking information. Over the next few months I will continue to work on getting as much as I can about those brave men in order to complete the commemorative album about their lives. I will present the finished album to the Hegewisch veterans groups, the Hegewisch Public Library, and the Southeast Chicago History Museum in time for Memorial Day 2015. I also created a “virtual cemetery” called the “Honored Sons of Hegewisch” on the Find-a-Grave web site. In some cases there were entries for the Hegewisch casualties. I contacted the managers of those entries and provided updated information, and I created entries for those not already accounted.
