The Super League of Malawi appeals committee has revised the sanctions imposed on Mighty Wanderers and Silver Strikers after the match violence in Balaka last month. The committee has upheld the decision of its disciplinary committee that found Silver Strikers guilty of inciting the violence, according to a statement made available to Capital FM. The bankers will have to pay a fine of over five million kwacha. Wanderers have also been found guilty of both failing to control their supporters and bringing the game into disrepute. The nomads will still have to pay a total 700,000 kwacha as fine. However, the committee has slashed the ban meted out to the two teams of five and eight months respectively. Instead the Committee decided that Mighty Wanderers FC shall forfeit their next four competitive matches and Silver Strikers FC shall forfeit their next six competitive matches respectively. It has also ordered that the abandoned match between the two sides should be replayed before this Sunday in Zomba without spectators.
