The Virginia Department of Transportation has revised its plans on the westbound closures on the Downtown Tunnel. VDOT announced Wednesday it will no longer close the westbound Downtown Tunnel for the entire weekend. Instead, VDOT will now close the tunnel each night during the week as follows: Sunday through Thursday, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. The change was the result of a compromise by Portsmouth Mayor Kenny Wright and VDOT to minimize the weekend daytime closures. wavy/news/local/portsmouth/vdot-revises-downtown-tunnel-closures
