The Virginia Tech Materials Engineering Professional Societies - TopicsExpress

The Virginia Tech Materials Engineering Professional Societies would like to invite you to come to an information session about the AIST Foundation with Lori Wharrey, the Manager of Board Services for the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST). The AIST Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Association for Iron & Steel Technology. AIST supports the iron and steel industry through advancement of technical development, production, processing and application of iron and steel. The mission of the AIST Foundation is to ensure the iron and steel industry of tomorrow will have a sufficient number of qualified professionals. We award over $600,000 in scholarships and grants each year to university students with an interest in a career in the industry, and to professors to build interest in the industry. We offer a great scholarship/internship program as well as one-year scholarships to engineering students (metallurgy, materials science, chemical, electrical, mechanical, industrial, environmental and computer science). These disciplines of engineering are all needed in the steel industry. There are many opportunities for engineering students for both paid summer internships and high-tech, diverse and rewarding careers in modern steelmaking. We invite you to learn more during the information session on September 15th from 5:30 to 6:30 PM in Surge 104D, and enjoy some pizza.
