The Word This Morning… Job 2:7-10, Then Satan left the Lord’s presence and made sores break out all over Job’s body. Job went and sat by the rubbish heap and took a piece of broken pottery to scrape his sores. His wife said to him, “You are still as faithful as ever, aren’t you? Why don’t you curse God and die?” Job answered, “You are talking nonsense! When God sends us something good, we welcome it. How can we complain when He sends us trouble?” In spite of everything he suffered, Job said nothing against God. Good Morning! This is one man the bible records that God was proud of, and something peculiar about Job is that, he was careful, very careful, not blame God for any misfortune (consider how he reacts towards the end of chpt1). Job’s concern in v10 is no different from what happens today. When things go as we expected we are happy and praise the name of the Lord, who made it possible for us. But when things go zigzag, we forget about God, who is able to make them go straight again, and instead complain bitterly and blame Him. Job gave thanks in all circumstances as written in 1Thessalonians 5:8, and he knew that God allowed him to go through all that for a reason, but He would always be there for him as written in Isaiah 30:20. My dear friend, should you want God to be proud of you as He was of Job, then, you should hate evil and learn to thank Him no matter what you may be going through. He will always be there for you.
