The aim of this TV show is to inspire the youth to follow the great traditions of Indian classical music and encourage and reward the best practitioners amongst them. SPIC MACAY is providing this platform to promote and popularise Indian classical music. Great gurus and living legends of Indian classical music will judge the contestants. Participation from all over the country will be encouraged through regional rounds of competition with Semi-finals to be held at Kolkata under SRA for Hindustani & at Chennai under MMA for Carnatic Music. It will culminate with the grand finale round being held at Mumbai. SPIC MACAY & Doordarshan have thus come together to host this national level competition in the form of a Reality Show. This National Competition of classical music will be broadcast all across the DD network, including DD National & DD Bharati. Bhimsen Joshi Yuva Puraskar (Hindustani vocal) Pt. Ravi Shankar Yuva Puraskar (Hindustani instrumental) Ustad Alla Rakha Yuva Puraskar (Hindustani accompanist*) Overall BEST PERFORMERS in Carnatic & Hindustani will each receive cash reward of Rs. 10 Lakhs in Total (*Judgement of Carnatic & Hindustani accompanists will be on the basis of how well they accompany the vocalists/instrumentalists.
