The commercial standard for how loud a track should be has kind of backed us all into a corner. Its a pissing contest that leads producers to an unfortunate fork in the road. They can either match the loudness while losing sound quality, or preserve the sound quality by keeping their tracks quieter than the modern standard. My tracks have always been a bit quieter than the standard, but thats mainly because I master my tracks myself, and Ive still got a LOT to learn. (Recently been using Ozone 5, and digging it). Anyways, I guess the whole point of this post, is to propose this question.... should I participate in the loudness wars, or just bow out and be content with a slightly quieter product that I know sounds good?
