The extent hominin species, Neandertal, has 99.84% identical DNA to Homo Sapiens. Humans didnt come from Neandertals, it is believed that both lines evolved from a different species called Homo Heidlebergensis. Which is why we share so much identical DNA. Humans and Neandertals made babies together and as a result, everyone of European and Asian descent have some Neandertal genes. But not people of African descent, which means the Neandertals were never in Africa. The species died out about 30,000 years ago.
