The girl at the bar said she knew the secret to happiness. She was a soprano, conga player and I was drunk, but I listened to her anyway. Happiness, according to her, depends upon ones awareness of the present. Then I said that they teach that sort of awareness in yoga alongside a couple of stretches and contortions. Makes sense, and she said she knew a yoga teacher who was indeed very happy. But then I remembered this teacher in one of the classes I attended who couldnt do a particular back bend where you open your chest upwards. Apparently, you couldnt do that pose with a broken heart (Im not particularly unhappy but I still couldnt do it), and that teacher was desperately sad that session, she almost cried.
