The initial thought of McNairy Central’s region is the financial - TopicsExpress

The initial thought of McNairy Central’s region is the financial hit the school will take is going to be brutal for the next two seasons. When you factor in the added cost for transportation and the fact the visitors’ stands will be mostly empty, the end result is not going to be a positive one for MCHS when it comes to money. McNairy will have as good a shot at making the state playoffs in Region 8, maybe better than in Region 7. The difference is you have more traditional rivals in Region 7 than in Region 8. The school will have three non-region games to play next year. Adamsville will likely be one of the three and the decision on the other opponents has not been decided on yet. MCHS has played all of the schools in Region 7, except South Gibson and they have only been playing a few short years. The Bobcats have never played Melrose, Hamilton or Covington, played Memphis Sheffield twice (winning in ’79 and ’80) and lost to Raleigh-Egypt in a 1994 state playoff game 14-12. If you take a part of the movie “Hoosiers” and apply it to football, the football fields will still be 100-yards long and the rules will be the same. It will be 11-on-11 tackle football. Our program is on the upswing and Bobcat fans need to stay positive. The young men that play for MCHS will not back down from anyone. The Bobcats will show up and play the teams in our region next season. We will be glad to play a Region 7 team next year because that will mean the Bobcats are in the state playoffs!
