The light from my torch glanced upon what I first presumed was a hockey puck, which I found odd considering it was summer, and the sport was out of season. On second glance I discovered that the flat, round object was in fact a toad, sitting stone still in the darkness, not more that a dozen feet from the swimming hole. By its markings I presume this to be a specimen of the Anaxyrus Microscaphus, the Arizona Toad. -excerpt from the journal of Naturalist Jebediah R. Holliday, 28th of June, 1892.
