The newest addition to the fleet is Atlas U23B #2751, a cool find - TopicsExpress

The newest addition to the fleet is Atlas U23B #2751, a cool find at a local used hobby shop, brand new in box. I set about detailing it today and upon looking at some prototype pictures, discovered 2751 was one of the ex PC units built for long hood forward operation. As such the F on the model is wrong and will be corrected later. These old Atlas red box engines are basically older Master series engines but these U23s come with unpainted metal grabs, in addition to all the other parts you need to install yourself (at least the handrails are blue!). So I broke out the paint (heads up, Michaels house brand of bright blue acrylic is about a dead on match for Atlas red box Conrail blue) and painted the grabs. I also painted and added the correct 2 strap cab signal box and turned the horn around (that will get changed to a details west horn soon). This was my first real attempt at painted parts on a model and I think it turned out alright. Soon Id like to paint the handrails around the steps white per the prototype, add the GE wheel slip modulators, and may even try weathering this old boat. For now it looks ok though!
